Vastu Tips for Your Pooja Room

The pooja room is the spiritual heart of the home. According to Vastu Shastra, the north-east corner (Ishanya) is the most auspicious position because it receives soft morning light and is associated with positive energy.

Place idols so that you face east or north while praying. Avoid putting the mandir under a staircase or next to a bathroom wall, and keep the space clean and uncluttered.

Light a brass diya at dawn and dusk, and keep fresh flowers near the deity. Natural materials such as brass, silver and terracotta are traditionally preferred because they hold and radiate calm, grounded energy.

Finally, keep the room fragrant with dhoop and avoid storing anything unrelated inside the mandir. A few well-chosen pieces are always better than a crowded shelf.
